FAQs
Registration and Program Details
Once you sign-up, you will receive sensors that measure temperature and detect the presence of water. You will also have access to download acomplimentary app, HSB iSensor, toyour smartphone or tablet. The appallows you to create your monitoring account, activate your sensors and receive alerts.
The HSB system has features not usually found in off-the-shelf systems:
- It uses the cellular network, not Wi-Fi. It’s more secure and doesn’t require use of your internet service.
- Sensors are battery powered. Because they use a cellular connection, they will continue to monitor and transmit in the event of a power loss.
- The system comes with monitored support 24/7/365. The alerts are sent via SMS and email. If severe, a phone call is triggered. Many off-the-shelf systems rely on an audible alarm that may not be heard if no one is in the area.
After you sign up, you'll receive emails with your order confirmation.
Sensors act as a “virtual watchdog” when you’re away from the office and send an alert when there are signs of a pending problem so that you may address any issues. For example, if a sensor detects water, quick notification may allow you time to act and prevent damage or minimize its impact.
Sensors & Activation
The sensor kits are reserved for dental practice locations that are covered by PPP’s property policy. Please contact your PPP agent to confirm your property insurance provider and obtain a quote for the PPP package policy.
Your complimentary* sensor kit will contain two leak and freeze sensors that will monitor room temperatures and sense the presence of water.
You’re allowed one complimentary* sensor kit per dental location.
You can order more sensors for your registered dental location through the complimentary app, HSB iSensor. To qualify, your complimentary* sensor kit must be installed and activated first at your dental location. To order more sensors for your dental location, navigate to the shopping bag icon located in the navigation area, near the Professional Protector Plan logo. Your additional sensors cannot be moved or placed outside your registered dental location.
The sensors can be activated anywhere there is AT&T LTE-M service. Service is available in the U.S.
The sensors are approximately 2.25 x 2.25 x 1 inches.
Your sensors are easy to install and don’t require you to hire professional services. Follow the instructions on the complimentary app, HSB iSensor, and you’ll be connected to protection in a few minutes. If you have trouble with activation, you can contact HSB’s Monitoring and Support Center at (844) 468-1866.
Place your sensor near appliances, equipment, plumbing, in a temperature-controlled room, or in a basement near a pipe. For example:
- Bathroom
- Under a sink
- Patient Recovery
- Laboratory
- Diagnostic Imaging Suite
- Boiler Room
- Electrical Room
- Operating Suite
- Robotic Operating Suite
- Exam / Consultation Room
- At the low point in a basement or utility room floor
- Next to a boiler or near a water heater, sump or other pump
- In a temperature-controlled room where freezing conditions would be concerning
You will need to activate your sensors and create your account. Both steps are necessary to receive accurate alerts. Using the complimentary app, HSB iSensor, is the quickest way to activate your account.
The sensors are battery powered. They use a cellular connection, so they will continue to monitor and transmit in the event of a power loss.
The sensors run on a CR123A battery that can be purchased from most major retailers and online. If a battery fails, you can easily replace it. The battery may last up to three years, but frequency and number of alerts, as well as signal strength, can significantly impact battery life. You can check the battery levels of your sensors through the mobile app. You’ll receive an alert when the battery level is low, so you know when to change it.
Alerts
No. The monitoring service is automatic. If the sensors detect an alert condition, an alert is sent to you or the contacts you designate.
The alert rules are pre-configured by HSB’s engineers, so you don’t need to worry about choosing what temperatures or conditions will trigger an alert. When you activate the sensors, you will note where you placed them and HSB will handle the rest.
Depending on where you place your sensors for monitoring, you may receive alerts for a variety of reasons.
- Warning alerts, sent via SMS text and email, indicate there may be an issue that needs attention and may include:
- Low temperature: the sensors detect a drop in indoor temperature
- High temperature: the indoor temperature is critically high and can damage equipment
- Urgent alerts are more severe and will be sent via SMS text and email followed by a phone call from the HSB Monitoring and Support Center. These alerts require immediate attention.
- Water: water has been detected
- Low temperature: the sensors have detected a significant and sustained drop in indoor temperature
- Informational alerts or installation reminders:
- Battery levels are low or depleted
- Equipment delivered, but not set up
- Activation process started, but not completed
When an alert is triggered at your dental practice, a text or email notification is sent to the contacts you designated during activation. If conditions are severe (e.g., water is detected, or temperatures are dangerously low), the HSB Monitoring and Support Center will call those individuals directly.
The alerts are sent to everyone on your designated contact list. Phone calls, used for urgent alerts, are made beginning with the primary contact. If the primary contact does not answer, the HSB Monitoring and Support Center will continue to call down the designated contact list until someone answers. Messages will be left if no direct contact is made.
Mobile App
The app, HSB iSensor, allows you to activate your sensors, manage your account from your smartphone or tablet, and receive alerts or notifications.
No, alerts are sent via text, email, or phone call depending on your preferences and the severity of the alert.
24/7 support
