FAQs
Registration and Program Details
Once you sign-up, you will receive instructions on how to schedule your installation. Once scheduled, you will receive sensors that monitors for and detects abnormal temperatures . You will also have access to download the Meshify Protect™ app to your smartphone. The app allows you to create your account, activate your sensors and receive alerts.
The HSB system has features not usually found in off-the-shelf systems:
- It uses the cellular network, not Wi-Fi. It’s more secure and doesn’t require use of your internet service.
- Sensors are battery powered. Because they use a cellular connection, they will continue to monitor and transmit in the event of a power loss.
- The system comes with monitored support 24/7/365. The alerts are sent via SMS and email. If severe, a phone call is triggered. Many off-the-shelf systems rely on an audible alarm that may not be heard if no one is in the area.
After you sign up, you'll receive emails with your order confirmation and asking you to schedule your installation.
Sensors act as a “virtual watchdog” when you’re away from your business and send an alert when there are signs of a pending problem so that you may address any issues. For example, if a sensor detects abnormal temperatures or a rapid increase in refrigeration temperatures, quick notification may allow you time to act and prevent damage or minimize its impact.
- When a Connecticut farmer’s refrigeration unit storing a $50,000 crop of cabbage malfunctioned, the installed sensor technology notified her of a temperature change. Thanks to this warning, she got the unit repaired, saving her cabbage and avoiding an insurance claim.
- In Wisconsin, a door to a school refrigerator was accidently left open. After receiving an alert for rising temperatures, the facilities manager was able to check the door and close it, saving not only over $40,000 in perishable goods but avoided having to close school for the day.
Sensors & Activation
Depending on the size of your business, your sensor kit will contain temperature sensors and a gateway.
The sensors are approximately 3.41" in diameter and 1.3" high.
Your sensors come with professional installation. Our installation team will contact you to schedule your installation on a day convenient for you. On the day of installation, your installer will help you set up your account within Meshify ProtectTM.
Using the Meshify Protect™ app is the quickest and easiest way to create your account and activate your sensors. Both steps are necessary to receive accurate alerts. Your installer will help you activate your account.
The sensors are battery powered and use a cellular connection so will continue to monitor and transmit data in the event of a power loss. The gateway’s primary power source is a standard power supply. In the event of a power failure, the gateway has a four-hour backup. If there is an outage, you’ll receive an alert letting you know the gateway is using backup. You’ll also receive an alert when power is restored to the gateway.
The sensors run on a 2 standard AA lithium batteries. If the batteries fail, you can easily replace them. The batteries may last up to three years, but frequency and number of alerts, as well as signal strength, can significantly impact battery life. You can check the battery levels of your sensors through the mobile app. You’ll receive an alert when the battery level is low, so you know when to change it.
Alerts
No. The monitoring service is automatic. If the sensors detect an alert condition, an alert is sent to you or the contacts you designate.
The alert temperatures and conditions are pre-set by engineers. Selecting the correct location when installing your sensor determines the alert type. This is an important step especially if you’re placing a sensor in a refrigerator or freezer. You activate the sensors; Sensor Solutions by HSB handles the rest.
Depending on where you place your sensors for monitoring, you may receive alerts for a variety of reasons.
- Warning alerts, sent via SMS text and email, indicate there may be an issue that needs attention and may include:
- A moderately high temperature in the refrigerator has been detected.
- A moderately high temperature in the freezer has been detected.
- Urgent alerts are more severe and will be sent via App notification, SMS text and email followed by a phone call if no one responds to the initial notification. These alerts require immediate attention.
- A severely high temperature has been detected in the refrigerator.
- A severely high temperature in the freezer has been detected.
- Informational alerts or installation reminders:
- Battery levels are low or depleted
- Equipment delivered, but not set up
- Activation process started, but not completed
When an alert is triggered at your building, a text or email notification is sent to the contacts you designated during activation. If conditions are severe (e.g., refrigeration temperatures are critically high), you will receive an automated phone call.
The alerts are sent to everyone on your designated contact list. Phone calls, used for urgent alerts, are made beginning with the primary contact. If the primary contact does not answer, the Sensor Support Team will continue to call down the designated contact list until someone answers. Messages will be left if no direct contact is made.
Yes. If sensors are not being actively used and monitored, notifications can be paused from 1 hour up to 4 months. The sensors will continue to monitor and enter alarm states but no notifications will be sent to any contacts. Sensors can be paused in the Meshify Protect app.
The device status page on the mobile app will show the paused status and timeline. Additionally, email notifications will be sent to location managers when sensors are paused or unpaused.
Mobile App
The app, Meshify Protect™, allows you to activate your sensors, manage your account from your smartphone or tablet, and receive alerts or notifications.
No, alerts are sent via text, email, or phone call depending on your preferences and the severity of the alert.
24/7 support
Once you have signed up for the program, you can reach out with technical questions or for guidance on activation to the Sensor Support Team at (844) 468-1866.
Data and Security
Data collected by the sensors and other equipment is about your location only (for example, the temperature and humidity where the sensors are installed) and does not include data that can identify you.
